Computer Time!

Well, after several very fun weeks of gaming, I have finally gotten around to telling you about it.

A little background: I have never built a computer before. So in turn, this doubled as my Senior Seminar Experience project.

It started out when I arrived from school. I immediately had to build it. So I sat down, and did it.
I ordered a case from a company called "Xclio" I had never heard of them before, but I researched a bit and found that they are apparently quite good. I love the Jet engine look =D

So, after I got everything unpacked, I started assembling, starting with a kingwin modular power supply. A modular power supply is where you can remove cables you don't need, which makes the case look nicer and have better airflow.

The next step is to put in the motherboard, so I needed to set that up. This means installing the processor first. What's amazing, is that I actually read instructions!.

Trust me though, my manhood has not faltered, and I have remedied the situation by ignoring everything it said. Especially this part:

"ONLY GET INSTALLED BY A PROFESSIONAL!"
bah, stupid manual.

It's amazing. This tiny $200 component, is what makes the biggest difference, and what does the most stuff in the whole computer.
A processor takes commands and inputs down to the simplest form. Binary. For those of you who don't know, binary is made up of 0's and 1's, which means no and yes. It answers questions about what it is doing in series. like 1010010011100100101100100110100101100.

So I attach it to the mobo (How cool people shorten motherboard)

Look how small that thing is....it's crazy. I then put the fan on it, which just clips over-top. A processor uses a huge heatsink and fan to cool it. The heatsink is usually made of copper, since it conducts heat the best. It has lots of little fins fanning out from it, to transfer heat to the air as easily as possible.

The next step is to put the motherboard in the case. This part is tricky, because there is a lot of risk involved. If anything shocks the motherboard at all, it will permanently destroy the motherboard, and the processor. Which is bad. So I have to try as best I can to lower it into the case without touching the sides or anything.

You might be thinking "Well isn't it touching the case when you set it in?"

WRONG

I installed non-conductive risers in the case, to keep the motherboard in the air, off the case. I bet you didn't see that coming!

Anyways, so I installed that, slid in the DvD drive with it's cool tool-less rail mount system. and installed the hard-drive, Graphics card and wiring when you weren't looking. sucker.

So I plugged it all in, and put in Windows XP Home Edition ™.

1 hour later, I found out I messed up everything in the partitions, and had to redo windows, which took 10 hours to reformat the disc.

I haven't posted in a while, because as usual I don't have much to post about.

My warrior is lvl 70 now. yay.

Over the past week or 2, me, jake, and my dad have been watching the mini-series "Band of Brothers" It is a in-depth story about easy company, and the people in it. This is a true story, and it shows interviews with some of the members of the company before each part. There are 10 parts total, and hour each. It's amazing.

I also finally got around to ordering the computer parts for my SSE project. I'll be putting it together the day or the day after I receive the parts. I am looking forward to a new awesome computer, but also am nervous about what happens if the parts don't work right. It is costing me almost exactly $1,200, so I can't afford any screw ups.

I'll post pictures and things when I get the parts, and I'll keep you all updated with it, not that any of you care.

My life pretty much revolves around WoW. I don't mind it, I just wish people understood what i was talking about when I say:

"Hit lvl 69 today, and ran durnholde with some guildies, and then got the first key frag from slabs and am on my way to getting attuned for kara!!!, halfway to 70 as well woot!"

But the fact is, you all don't care. But I do, so eat that suckers. I AM almost attuned.

I feel sick right now. It's 12:32 and I have to get up for church tomorrow, and now I feel sick. This is probably a sign to go to bed, but instead, I feel like blogging about it in hopes it goes away.

Well, after about 5 days of being sick, I am going back to school today. I still am slightly ill, but not very bad at all, and other than a runny nose I've ran out of symptoms.

I took my test yesterday morning, probably getting like a "C" on it or something...who knows, because I sure didn't. However, I realized something again. I always seem to forget this.

I like getting up early.

I know this may sound strange to a lot of you night people. I'm a night person too, that's why I find myself staying up until about 1 in the playing WoW.
But here is the thing:
When I wake up at 10:30, I have 2 hours till the day feels half over. It's time for lunch, the day is there and gone.
When I wake up at 8:00 , I have 4 full hours till lunch. I can get ready for the day, and play WOW for two hours, and it's only 11:00.. It makes my days feel longer and better, and getting up earlier in the first place makes me feel "fresher"

So now that I've thought about this again, let's see if I'll actually do something about it. There will be times when I can't because of raids. Oh well. The times when it'll be MY decision to have the self-control will be when it's something like...."Oh one more level!"

speaking of which.....thelrin is 68 now.

Upon arriving at the website, I saw it was like a comicy sort of thing. After a good like...30 minutes of surfing through it, I found several that I really like.

Well, it's 10:30 right now, and due to jet lag(does daylight savings or whatever it's called count as that?) I feel as tired as if it was...well, 11:30. Normally I would be like, "Oh sweet, that means 2 hours of World Of Warcraft" . But alas, I had my SATs on saturday, and my brain is feeling particularly mushy. I think. Actually, that's probably just an excuse for me having a chronic, "Stay up too late" problem, but denial is the first stage to admitting you have a problem.

I think I made that up.

Well I did it...it sucked...but I managed to live through it. I didn't know the answer to about 6 questions, and I am guessing I got 98% of the ones I did answer correct. Soo..I think I did okay. Every section I finished with about 10 minutes to spare (It took 15 min per section) But some I just didn't know...

Okay, well after that awesome update with my "Purrdy" mouse, I have another computer oriented announcement. WE HAVE CABLE!! YAY! What does this mean to you guys? absoulutely nothing. What this changes only really makes sense to meand my fellow gamers, but to you guys it means that I'm just happy.

I have PSATs on Saturday and freaking 7:45 AM. (I hate our school system) How wrong is that? 7:45! And you don't get back till like noon. OMG. I hate this. The worst part, is that this means I can't go to a LAN with my friends. Oh well...I have cable...so I'll get over it...

On a differnet note, my back and neck hurt really bad, I think as a result of my bad posture. Finally a problem has developed. Now maybe I'll be motivated to fix this issue.

Ok, so I finally got my new mouse on tuesday, and absolutely love it. It is currently the fastest and most precise mouse in the world. And costed me a whopping $62. Ow. It's worth it though. not only does it have extremely cool looks, but it works perfectly.

I opted for the RZ01 model, for 8 bucks more, because the other one is reported to break in the first 6 months or so. This mouse is SO good in fact, that Popular Science Magazine had it one an issue two months ago, saying it was the best mouse in the market. Here are the specs:

-1000 hz Ultrapolling (processing)(compared to 125 hz for most gaming mice)

-1 ms (millisecond) response time (compared to 4-8 ms for most gaming mice)

-Teflon feet for no-resistance movement (compared to plastic for more gaming mice)

Juicy update

Well folks, (all 3 of you) I am back from my days or day of no blogging, and I'm ready to go.

Yesterday I went to Bulwinkies (that doesn't look right...) with my youth group, and had LOADS of fun. I mean if fun came in six packs, (wait, I think it does...) I bought 50. (Metaphorically) Well anyways, I drove the go-karts, played laser tag (laser xtreme!), and ate pizza...lots. If your looking for a number, it's six. Needless to say, I didn't feel that good afterwards, so I washed it down with a "SoBe No Fear" energy drink. Boy am I smart.

Before I tried to kill my self on accident, I was having quite a bit of fun. I did extremely well at go-karts, as always, and was told that it was like "watching nascar" watching me drive. That made me feel good : )

Anyways, today I made another vector wallpaper.

Well today is Friday! Finally the week is coming to a much-needed end, and I can finally catch up on some much-needed ZZzz's. When that's done, I can catch up on the LOADS of homework I have from being sick this week. Sadly, the destruction doesn't end there either. I have finished most of the homework, and caught up on tests/quizzes. Now comes the math homework. Don't get me wrong, I love math, but there comes a point when even I don't want to do it.

Let me give you the situation. I have to solve a sequence. I have a non-ans repeating calculator, and I have to find the 300th number. This means hand entering the equation 300 times. OW. It took me over 20 minutes in class to solve a problem, actually better yet, part "A" of one problem.

Here is an example of an equation (part "A" mind you) that is requiring me to use my brother's calculator.

U₀=1500
U_n=U_n-1(1 + .05/4) + 100
U₃₀₆₀=X

anyone got an answer? Me neither. In fact, this equation has so many parts and changes, that it literally took a TI-82 almost 15 seconds to solve it. A CALCULATOR! Those things are supposed to be instant I thought. Oh well, I guess my faith in calculators has been lost.

On a side note, if anyone knows of a function/sequencing program that's free for PCs, please give me a link.

Supernatural

Ok, I just got done watching the season premier of the show "Supernatural" Which is on the thursday, on the CW, at 9PM. IT WAS AN AWESOME SHOW. I loved it! The show's main character is the infamous Jason Teague from "Smallville", an even better show, an hour earlier than this show. The plot is still unknown, (it's a show, deal with it) but it looks very interesting and very intense. It's not like a horror show, (which my dad seems to think) but it does involve demos and such, but not in to scary a way. (Don't let your children watch it though...)

Well anyways, you should watch it. It is an incredible show, great acting, and good effects...I think. I've only seen one show, so I don't know much, but I think you should give it a try.

Well I've played about 4 hours of Bf2 today, with the rest of my [CA] clan members. Ok not all of the, but two of them, "Lucsious" and "RoyalPain". We made it a goal to get 1000 points by the end of the day. I got it in about 2 hours, and averaged 83 points a round. Call me skilled. *bows* Anways I used Medic 40%, Support 20%, Spec Ops 30%, and Sniper 10%. (That's 100% right?) War in Iraq

Does anyone else besides me think that this war was not properly executed? I'm not saying it wasn't needed or wanted, heck, I love war, but only if it's done correctly, and only if we own the suckers. In this war, America did two mistakes.

1) They listened to the Liberals

No I'm not trying to diss the liberals, but just diss what they did. Contrary to their beliefs, cutting war funding does NOT help anything, especially getting out of there faster. Without proper equipment, we lose soldiers, lose ground, and have to stay there longer. Think about this: At least 2 soldiers are injured or killed each day from I.E.Ds. These improvised explosives fire devastating artillery or mortar arounds into the humvees. Can this be stopped? Yes...it can.

Various companies already have contracts with the government for armored troop transports. I'm not talking about tanks either. These are 400HP, 6 man, SUVs (similar to humvees) that can cruise around Iraq just fine, but with one advantage. They don't die. The armor on the side can withstand 9 RPG rounds in the same spot, the most commonly used I.E.D. The tires are filled with a concrete-like substance, so they don't have blowouts either. They currently have like 5 of these in Iraq, out of the 200 or so humvees. And guess what, not one of them has been destroyed yet.

Another Item that would be useful, but there isn't funding for, is live thermal satillite feed. Wouldn't it be nice to KNOW there was a sniper in the far tower, BEFORE you walk around the corner. I think so. Do you? People might say, "oh well they won't know it's a terrorist" Guess what, they will. I think if they can read what side a dime is on, they can probably tell if the light blue signature of metal, is in the shape of a gun. Or they could just switch to non-thermal, and find out for sure. Sounds simple doesn't it.

There are many other vehicles, weapons, recon, and other equipment that is made and could be in use, but it's all too expensive. If America had let these be in the budget, we would of been out of there a year ago. But now it is exceeding the cost of using these, because we don't have the equipment to proceed. (Each day in Iraq is about $100,000 of gas, food, etc.)

2) Heck, you know what, I think the liberals deserve this spot too. Kudos.

What do you think on this? Like I said, I'm not dissing the Democratic party, I'm dissing the view they had of cutting military funding, because that was certainly not a smart move. Post away!

As a side note, thanks to a reader, I do not have exact information on this, I saw the SUV on the discovery channel 2 years ago, and I am assuming from my previous knowledge of satillites that this could be done. He also pointed out that mechanics would have to relearn how to work on these. My reponse? 2 years would of been plenty of time.
